How did you start trading?

I started trading with my dad in July of 2015 on our show Where Do I Start: Bat vs. Bat. It was always a dream of mine to follow in my dad’s footsteps. I figured if he can do it, I certainly can do it.

Why do you think it’s important for young people to get involved in trading options (or just generally make their own money)?

At this point in our lives, we have some disposable income. Most of the people I’m around don’t have kids or obligations or a we have the ability to play with a little money.

And it’s good to learn about this now, so when you do have those obligations, you’ll already have that money to put yourself ahead. And just knowing that no one else is going to do it for one will hand it to you. I believe the only person who should manage my money is me.

As long as we have free markets there will be trading. I don’t know of another business that has no competitors or barriers to entry, and you can even be your own boss! Besides, with technology, now you can trade from a sunny beach in the Caribbean! I hope that is what I will be doing when I’m my dad’s age.

What would you do if you made a big profit? What would you buy?

I’d keep investing it. I was hooked on trading the minute I clicked the review and send button for the first time. But if I had to buy something, I’d buy a Jeep Wrangler. I’d deck it out with some oversized tires and a lift kit. There is nothing better than cruising around the city in a rag top Jeep!

What do you do outside of trading?

I love playing fantasy sports. And real sports too. I love softball, pickup basketball and volleyball, and I love being outside. I also like working with my hands and fixing things. I’m kinda like a MacGyver...something breaks and I have a piece left over from a previous project that will fix the problem. There is a certain satisfaction that comes from problem solving with the tools at hand!

What advice do you have for new traders?

Get some skin in the game! It was hard for me to grasp a lot of trading concepts when I didn’t have any positions on. There are ways to trade without getting caught with your pants down. It sucks to lose, but it is important to see how trades work in a real market. When there’s real consequences, it drives home the ideas, concepts, and mechanics.
