Financial Controller

As the Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role overseeing the financial management of the group's regulated and operating US legal entities. You will be reporting to both the IGNA Head of Finance and the Group Financial Controller, with additional support from various group finance teams such as Treasury, Tax, Financial Control, and Group Reporting. In addition to financial management, you will actively collaborate with and support all other departments within IG that have an impact on the financial health of the US entities.

What you'll do:

  • Ensuring that the financial dynamics and requirements of each entity are understood and managed, including cash, capital, profitability, tax and financial regulatory matters
  • Lead the US Financial Control team to establish and maintain a strong control environment, and to drive continual process improvement and maintain effective oversight of operations performed by the Finance Operations team in Krakow 
  • Day-to-day financial management and oversight of the systems, processes and controls over financial reporting for the group’s US entities 
  • Driving the month-end close process for the US entities, and support the Group month-end close by taking responsibility for the US sub consolidation and signing off consolidation and IFRS adjustments
  • Oversight and production of required regulatory reports for all US subsidiaries including daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  • Assistance with user adoption of existing financial systems including the Concur AP and Expense system
  • Owning relationships with local banks and day-to-day management and oversight of the US entities liquidity position, including working capital management and authorising payments to clients, brokers and suppliers
  • Oversight of daily client money and asset segregation calculations for IG US LLC
  • Responsibility for US tax matters, supported by the Group Tax Team, including ownership of relationships with local tax advisors, maintenance of local transfer pricing documentation and assisting with tax related project work such as nexus studies  
  • Works closely with the Group Tax team to identifying risks arising from cross border transaction, including dividends, royalties and interest, and ensuring compliance with US requirements associated with the transactions
  • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including the treasury, tax and Finance Operations team, and external stakeholders, including the Group’s auditors Collaborating with the FP&A for the production of analysis and information for key business stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the Finance Change team to shape and define business processes, drive requirements and agree resources, acting as the key internal finance stakeholder for change projects involving the US entities
  • Build a strong relationship with risk and compliance to support external reporting requirements, and with other Financial Controllers across the group to drive consistency and continuous improvement across the function
  • Ongoing review of system access relevant to the financial systems, supported by Finance Systems

Who you are:

  • Proficient in financial operations, including journal entries, month-end close, and audit coordination
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
  • CPA or equivalent required
  • Prior experience in managing complex financial projects
  • Experience in state and corporate income taxes
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on problem-solving and a capacity to work at both detailed and high-level perspectives
  • Proactive, curious, and not afraid to ask questions. Demonstrates a deep interest in understanding the business and its regulations
  • Exposure to working with overseas parent companies is a plus
  • Experience working with shared services and offshore teams is a plus
  • Enjoys delving into financial data and possesses a genuine affinity for numbers
  • Can handle shifting priorities and excel in a dynamic environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in interpreting financial data and providing impact assessments
