Margin Trading

Trading on margin provides increased buying power along with access to a broader range of financial products and trading strategies.

Our most comprehensive and flexible margin account, ‘The Works’, offers:

  • Portfolio margin eligibility for accounts meeting suitability requirements
  • Access to all available products: Stocks/Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs)
    • Covered and uncovered options
    • Covered and uncovered option spreads
    • Futures
    • Options on futures

Options Trading

We offer three levels of options trading permissions: Limited, Basic, and The Works. Each level provides different access to strategies and products.

Futures Trading

To trade futures on tastytrade, you must have "The Works." Learn how to enable futures trading when you have "The Works."

Portfolio Margin Trading

Portfolio margin offers the maximum available leverage for eligible retail traders, providing up to 6.7 times the buying power for specific products compared to the standard margin account. Individual, joint, international, and entity (LLC, S-Corp, C-Corp, Partnership) margin accounts with ‘The Works’ approval can apply for portfolio margin once the funding requirements are met.

Crypto Trading

Cryptocurrency trading is currently available exclusively for individual accounts. To start trading cryptocurrencies, simply log in to your account and enable cryptocurrency trading.
