Customer Account Update FAQs

Effective from 10 business days from date of communication (end of U.S. trading day June 12, 2026), Australian residents will not be permitted to place any new opening orders on the tastytrade platform until further notice.

There are a range of factors tastytrade is taking into consideration as part of conducting a strategic review of its operations. We will update you about the future of tastytrade’s offering to Australian clients as soon as possible.

Your assets (cash and securities) are segregated and accounted for at APEX.

If an open position expires in the money, and the account has enough funds to exercise the option, then the option will be exercised. Exercise requests may be made to offset any early assignments resulting in a margin call.

No, there are no holds on any cash withdrawals.

Yes, you are able to request that another eligible broker initiate a position transfer to another broker. If transferring to a US broker, this can be completed via the Automated Customer Account Transfer Service (ACATS). Non-ACATS eligible brokers may initiate a free delivery (Depository Trust Company [DTC] transfer) to their receiving broker. Transfer fees will be waived or covered by tastytrade. The DTC transfer is not applicable to cash or options positions.

Crypto currency positions and futures positions cannot be transferred. However, certain crypto currencies can be withdrawn to an external wallet. Please see the link below for more details:

Typically, an ACATS transfer will take between 5-7 business days. If you do not have an account with another broker, additional time may be required to set up an account and complete the onboarding process. ACATS transfers are initiated by the receiving broker. Please see the below links for DTC and crypto currency transfers.

Good to cancel (GTC) and good til day (GTD) orders to close positions will remain active. Any orders to open new positions will be cancelled after your account is placed in ‘closing-only’ status.

Options positions that expire in-the-money will convert to their resulting position if the account has adequate buying power. Otherwise, positions are subject to closure by the tastytrade Risk team.

You will be able to access your transaction history and statements through your account.

Yes, you will still be issued your year-end tax forms.
