tastytrade is set to roll out the new intraday margin rules right away

tastytrade Helped Make This Happen

At tastytrade, we've been advocating for the repeal of the pattern day trading rule for years, and we're ecstatic to see real progress has been made.

The new intraday margin rules give you more flexibility to manage your risk in real time with dynamic buying power, no more starting day trade buying power, and the removal of the day trade limit.

We believe all traders should have the freedom to manage their risk when and how they need to without being limited by the size of their account or how often they trade.

Get ready to trade

Most tastytrade applications are reviewed and approved in a few minutes, but you should allow a few days for account opening in case additional documents or verification are needed.

You can fund your account via ACH, wire, stablecoin deposit, or check. Immediate buying power may be available through ACH (via Plaid) and stablecoin deposits. Wire transfers are another fast option and typically settle within one business day. ACAT transfers are also available.

If you're an existing user and want to open a new account (e.g. a margin account) or apply for "The Works" trading permissions, this process can take up to a couple business days.

Day trading is not suitable for all investors, particularly those with limited resources, limited experience, or low risk tolerance. Day trading can result in significant commission costs over time, even if per trade costs are low. Additionally, borrowing on margin or short selling may result in losses greater than the initial investment. Please read the Day Trading Risk Disclosure prior to day trading at tastytrade.com/disclosures/.
