To enable portfolio margin on your tastytrade account, you must first have a margin-enabled "The Works" account with a minimum of $125,000 in equity in your account.
If your account meets those requirements, you can enable portfolio margin on the Trading Preferences tab. Note: once portfolio margin is enabled, your account must maintain a balance of $100,000 in equity.
Metals futures can come in standard, micro, 1-ounce, and 100-ounce contract sizes, though not all metals futures are available in all contract sizes on tastytrade. See our futures contracts specifications for more information and a full list of available metals futures.
For new tastytrade accounts, we typically process your application within a few days. International accounts may take longer to process. Note that only users in a "The Works" account are eligible to apply for futures, and that futures trading must be enabled after you open your tastytrade account.
