TASTYTRADE AUSTRALIA UPDATE

After completing a strategic review and careful consideration, tastytrade has decided to formally cease providing services to Australian resident accounts. Current Australian customers are required to take one of the following actions by end of the US trading day 1st OCTOBER 2026

  • Option 1: Transfer your account, including all eligible positions and funds, to another licensed broker (please refer to "Can I transfer my positions and/or cash to my new or alternative broker?" below) 
  • Option 2: Liquidate your positions and withdraw all funds to your bank account. 

Fees applicable to the transfer of your account to another broker (ACATS) will be waived or covered by tastytrade. To have wire withdrawal fees waived, please complete an International Wire Request Form and email it to banking@tastytrade.com or support@tastytrade.au.

tastytrade has made the decision to cease providing services to Australian resident accounts. You are required to take one of the following actions by the end of the US trading day 1st OCTOBER 2026:

If positions remain open in your account on 2 October 2026 and beyond, tastytrade will take action to liquidate those positions at prevailing market prices. tastytrade accepts no liability for losses arising from forced liquidation. Proceeds, together with any remaining funds, will be available for withdrawal only after all trades have settled and are required to be withdrawn promptly at that time. Please submit an International Wire Request Form to banking@tastytrade.com or support@tastytrade.au to return funds to your bank account with wire fees waived. 

Your account is currently open but set to closing only, meaning you can close positions you currently hold but cannot open new positions, roll, or add to existing ones. 

Yes. The fact that tastytrade is ceasing to service Australian resident accounts does not affect the safety or integrity of your holdings.

Following a strategic review of tastytrade’s international operations, the decision has been made to cease providing services to Australian resident accounts.  

We appreciate the support of our Australian clients, and our priority is now to ensure the transition of your account to another broker or remittance of your funds back to your bank account is as smooth and orderly as possible for each affected client. 

Australian residents are not currently eligible to open new accounts with tastytrade, and we are unable to make any commitments regarding future availability of tastytrade services to Australian residents. 

Any open account with no positions and a US$0.00 balance will be closed by 1 July 2026. Any account thereafter with a US$0.00 balance after a withdrawal or transfer will also be closed. If you previously transacted your account and it has a US$0.00 balance with no position, you’ll still be able to retrieve any account statements, confirmations, and applicable tax documents at my.tastytrade.com.

Yes. Standard option exercise and expiry processing will continue normally until after the end of the US trading day 1st OCTOBER 2026

However, you should be aware if positions remain open in your account after the end of the US trading day 1st OCTOBER 2026, tastytrade will take action to liquidate those positions at prevailing market prices. We strongly recommend that you actively manage all positions well before the deadline. 

Processing of options expiring in-the-money will continue normally up to and including the end of the US trading day 1st OCTOBER 2026.  

Note: If your account has insufficient buying power, positions are subject to closure by the tastytrade Risk Team. Processing of options expiring in-the-money will continue normally up to and including the end of the US trading day 1st OCTOBER 2026. If you hold option positions on or after the end of the US trading day 1st OCTOBER 2026 you should consider closing or exercising those positions before 1st October 2026 if you have sufficient buying power  

Note: Equity options positions greater than 20 days to expiry can be transferred to another broker. 

Both Good Till Cancel (GTC) and Good Till Day (GTD) orders to close positions will remain active until the end of the US trading day 1st OCTOBER 2026, after which they will be canceled. Opening orders are no longer permissible in your account and will be rejected. 

Futures and futures options are not eligible for transfer to another broker and must be closed or allowed to expire before the end of the US trading day 1st OCTOBER 2026 if you have sufficient buying power. 

Any futures or futures options positions remaining open at the close of the US trading day 1st OCTOBER 2026 will be liquidated by tastytrade at prevailing market prices after the 1st OCTOBER 2026 futures trading session. tastytrade accepts no liability for losses arising from forced liquidation of these positions. 

If you are carrying futures positions, we strongly urge you to act well in advance of the deadline. 

If you take no action before the end of the US trading day 1st OCTOBER 2026, then: 

  • All open positions in your account will be liquidated by tastytrade at the prevailing market rate after 1st OCTOBER 2026
  • tastytrade accepts no liability for losses arising from forced liquidation, including losses attributable to market conditions, bid-ask spreads, or the timing of execution. 
  • Proceeds, together with any remaining funds, will be available for withdrawal only after all trades have settled and are required to be withdrawn promptly at that time. Please submit an International Wire Request Form to banking@tastytrade.com or support@tastytrade.au to withdraw funds to your bank account and avoid the US$45 Outgoing International Wire Fee.  

If positions remain open in your account after the end of the US trading day 1st OCTOBER 2026, tastytrade will take action to liquidate those positions at prevailing market prices at a time and in a manner determined solely by tastytrade. tastytrade accepts no liability for losses arising from forced liquidation.  

Proceeds, together with any remaining funds, will be available for withdrawal only after all trades have settled and are required to be withdrawn promptly at that time. Please submit an International Wire Request Form to banking@tastytrade.com or support@tastytrade.au to withdraw funds to your bank account and avoid the US$45 Outgoing International Wire Fee. 

To avoid this outcome, please act before 1st OCTOBER 2026

No. Cash withdrawals from your account are operating as normal, and we encourage you to initiate a transfer or withdrawal as early as possible. 

Equities and Equity Options - Transferring your account equities and equity options (if more than 20 days to expiration) positions to a US broker may be affected through the Automated Customer Account Transfer Service (ACATS). If your new or alternative broker participates in the ACATS system, the transfer process is initiated by them as the receiving broker. Please contact your new or alternative broker to commence this process as soon as possible.  

Any full ACATS transfer to another firm will result in the automatic closure of your tastytrade account. Any residual funds arising from dividend payments, fractional share liquidations, or similar activity will also be automatically transferred to your new account when a full transfer is completed. Please note that partial ACATS transfers will not result in the automatic closure of your tastytrade account. 

If your new or alternative broker does not facilitate ACATS transfers, then either the Free Delivery or Depository Trust Company (DTC) Delivery services are available. Note: Only long share positions can be transferred using the Free Delivery or DTC methods. Please email banking@tastytrade.com to obtain a Free Delivery Request Form and visit the Free Delivery/DTC Delivery support article for more information. 

If you hold equity options with less than 20 days to expiry, you will need to close those positions and transfer any proceeds to your bank account before 1st OCTOBER 2026

Futures and Futures Options – futures and futures options are not eligible for transfer and must either expire or be closed out by the end of the US trading day 1st OCTOBER 2026

Cryptocurrency and Other Digital Assets – certain cryptocurrencies may be transferred to an external wallet, please see this link for more information Cryptocurrency Transfers at tastytrade. Any cryptocurrencies or other digital asset positions not able to be transferred must be closed by the end of the US trading day 1st OCTOBER 2026

Fees applicable to the transfer of your account to another broker will be waived or covered by tastytrade. 

Certain cryptocurrencies may be transferred to an external wallet, please see this link for more information Cryptocurrency Transfers at tastytrade. Any cryptocurrencies or other digital asset positions not able to be transferred must be closed by the end of the US trading day 1st October 2026

Any positions that have not been transferred by the end of 1st October 2026 will be liquidated by tastytrade at prevailing market prices. Proceeds, together with any remaining funds, will be available for you to withdraw once trades have settled. Please submit an International Wire Request Form to banking@tastytrade.com or support@tastytrade.au to withdraw funds to your bank account and avoid the US$45 Outgoing International Wire Fee. 

Yes. You will retain access to your account via the tastytrade website (my.tastytrade.com) for access to transaction information, statements, and other relevant tax documentation. 

As your account is in the US, you will be issued with the US end of year tax forms as usual. Only Form 1042-S forms pertain to Australia-based customers. Previous year tax worksheets and US YTD tax worksheets (CSV files) will also be available.
